Description

This module engages through lectures and seminars with issues around the future of architecture and cities with respect to global environmental change, most notably climate change. It seeks to understand architecture's responses and responsibilities in light of climate change predictions and scenarios of the future informed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessment reports. It will analyse examples of resilience, adaptation and mitigation in both built and unbuilt projects. The aim is to encourage thinking about new areas of expertise in architecture whilst developing a more expansive comprehension of contemporary issues relating to sustainability, climate change and design.
